Qigong

Qigong inspired meditative movement

Qigong is both an art and a practice rooted in traditional Chinese culture, using posture, gentle movement, breath regulation, visualisation, and meditation to cultivate and harmonise qi—often translated as vital energy or life force. Through regular practice, qigong supports physical health, emotional balance, and mental clarity, while fostering a deeper sense of connection with ourselves, nature, and the wider universe.

Qigong has been practiced for thousands of years as a system of healing exercises and meditative techniques. The word qi refers to the vital processes that animate life, while gong means skill, work, or cultivation—together often understood as “working with energy.” In qigong, this life force is experienced not only internally, through sensations of warmth, flow, or ease in the body, but also externally, in our felt connection to the environment—such as the calm of a sunrise or the awe inspired by natural landscapes.

Unlike strenuous exercise, qigong emphasises relaxed, mindful movement and awareness. The practice encourages the free flow of qi through the body, supporting the nervous system and helping the body shift out of chronic stress patterns. Over time, this can improve resilience, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Benefits of Qigong may include:

  • Nourishing, flowing movements that are gentle and accessible

  • Increased energy alongside a calmer, more focused mind

  • Improved vitality and circulation

  • Greater strength, balance, and flexibility in both body and mind

  • Enhanced mobility and joint health; may help reduce stiffness and support pain management

  • Suitable for all ages and fitness levels—no prior experience or special equipment needed

Qigong is not about forcing change, but about cultivating awareness, balance, and ease, allowing the body and mind to function more naturally and efficiently.

Vibrant Woman Yoga

I found Well Woman Yoga a perfect way to relax, de stress and steal back some time for myself. At the same time, these classes are very invigorating and very cleansing. On line classes are a new way of working but I found it very successful. Julie gives such clear instruction that you can very easily follow along and actually I think it’s good to teach yourself that relaxation in your own home is possible. Thank you Julie, perfect!

Vibrant Woman Yoga

Before starting this class, I was slightly skeptical about the benefits it might bring me, but I knew that I was looking for something to further support me through lockdown. I could not have been more wrong. Julie is an incredible teacher. She is totally clear in her instruction, extremely knowledgeable about the physical, emotional and psychological benefits of each action and gently humorous in her approach. There is no embarrassment, just total support specifically focused for women. The relaxation at the end of sessions is exactly what I was looking for; it has helped me by providing the emotional support that I was lacking in lockdown.
